Padel Mexicano: rules and differences from Americano

Padel Mexicano is an individual rotation format in which current rankings influence partners and opponents in later rounds. Players with similar results move to the same court, so matches tend to become more balanced as the event progresses. Systur supports Mexicano for at least four players, with a player count divisible by four.

Ranking-based court assignments

After players are added, the opening round is generated. Once scores are recorded, players are ranked by individual points, point difference and wins, then split into groups of four. Each group forms two new pairs for the next match.

Because assignments depend on live standings, the complete schedule cannot be published before the event.

Mexicano compared with Americano

Americano follows a prepared rotation intended to maximize variety. Mexicano recalculates groups according to performance. Both formats use temporary partners and individual points, but Mexicano creates increasingly competitive courts.

Choose Americano for predictable scheduling and social mixing; choose Mexicano for ranking-driven matches.

Scoring each round

Use the configured fixed point pool and add each team's score to both team members' individual totals. For example, an 18-14 result gives both players on the first team 18 points and both players on the second team 14. Enter every result before generating the next round.

Publish tie-break criteria for equal totals, such as previous ranking, point difference, or a direct comparison where available.

Partner repetition and balance

Ranking groups can repeatedly place the same people together. The pairing algorithm may swap partners within a court to reduce repetition, but it should not move players far enough to undermine ranking-based grouping.

Document whether competitive balance or partner variety takes priority.

Courts, rests, and withdrawals

When court capacity is limited, assign rests using a fair rotation. Decide whether a resting player receives zero points, an average, or no scored round. Apply the same rule throughout the event.

Late withdrawals are difficult because every following round is generated live. Keep a substitute policy ready.

Organizer checklist

Define the opening draw, scoring model, ranking order, tie-breaks, partner-repeat policy, and rest treatment. Use one authoritative standings table and do not create the next round until every prior result is confirmed.

Is Mexicano available in the Systur creator?

Yes. Open the Mexicano demo, add players and configure rounds, match points and courts. The next round is generated only after every match in the previous round is completed. The demo uses temporary data.

Are teams permanent?

No. Players collect individual points and usually receive new partners each round.
