Padel Americano: rotation rules and scoring
Padel Americano is a social format in which players regularly change partners and opponents while collecting individual points. It mixes the group and reduces the influence of one permanently dominant pair. Systur supports Americano for at least four players, with a player count divisible by four.

Partner rotation
Four players share a court in each round and form two rotating teams. Systur generates the full Americano schedule when the tournament starts, stores pair lineups, round numbers and courts, and reduces repeated partners and opponents. The current MVP requires a player count divisible by four, so byes and incomplete groups are not yet supported.
Classic Americano uses a prepared rotation rather than current standings. This is the main difference from Mexicano, where rankings influence later court assignments.
Individual scoring
Matches use a configured fixed point pool. Each player adds their team's points from the round to an individual total. For example, an 18-14 result gives both players on the first team 18 points and both players on the second team 14. The two scores must add up to the configured match total.
The scoring method must remain identical on every court and in every round.
Courts and resting players
Each active court needs four players. If the group is larger than court capacity, schedule rests evenly and prevent one person from sitting out twice before everyone has rested once.
Allow enough changeover time to publish the next pairing and let players move courts safely.
Building a fair schedule
Perfect balance is not always possible, especially with an unusual number of players or rounds. Prioritize equal appearances, then partner variety, then opponent variety. Publish the full schedule before the first match whenever possible.
Late withdrawals require a documented substitute or a regenerated schedule.
Advantages and limitations
Americano is inclusive, social, and easy to run with mixed skill levels. Individual scoring keeps every point relevant. However, the final ranking also depends on the strength of temporary partners and opponents.
Use Mexicano instead when matching players by current performance is the primary goal.
Organizer checklist
Confirm player count, court capacity, rounds, scoring limits, rest allocation, and tie-breaks. Prepare a visible table of pairings and a single place for entering scores.
